Ethical Practices in Counselling
Aylesbury Counselling Services and Ethical Practices

Person Centred Counselling
Person Centred Counselling is based on Carl Rogers' Theory of Personality. Rogers believed that we all have the ability to reach our full potential in spite of the difficulties that we experience in life.
Counselling gives us the opportunity to regain control and is based on a trusting, honest relationship between the counsellor and the client, in a safe, non-judgemental and confidential environment.
Counselling is a non-directive process, allowing the client to explore any difficult issues at their own pace.
Ethics
Here at Aylesbury Counselling Services we understand the importance of maintaining an ethically safe setting for both client and counsellor. Therefore we work within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy guidelines for good working practice (www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework)
Confidentiality
Aylesbury Counselling Services feel that confidentiality is essential in the counselling relationship.
It provides an environment within which you feel safe to talk and is the essence of the therapeutic process.
Your counsellor will clearly explain, how confidentiality is maintained, at the start of your counselling sessions.
